Two versions of our great canteens.
Version 1: Solid air-dried white pine, single piece heads, steel hoops and cotton webbing strap. Approximately 1 Imperial quarter capacity. Dimensions: 7 1/8" diameter, 4" depth. Suitable for British 1812 impression when painted by purchaser.
Version 2: Oak canteen, based upon an original 1854 British military canteen. Constructed of Canadian quarter-sawn white oak, 20 gauge mild steel 3/4" hooping, single riveted, two wire strap-keepers. Both heads are two-piece heads, butt jointed. Supplied with cotton web strapping. Stopper is Canadian softwood to prevent jamming. Unsealed and unlined guaranteed watertight after soaking. Suitable for use from at least 1812, possibily earlier.
