Louisbourg well bucket

Is it a bucket or a pail?
Truth of the matter we don't know. It would seem when a vessel was used for well purposes it was called a bucket. Our Louisbourg well bucket is based upon the bucket found in one of the wells at Fortress Louisbourg, Louisbourg, Nova Scotia, Canada. Constructed of solid air-dried white pine, single piece bottom, three steel hoops, hand-forged iron bale. Appropriate for any 18th century interpretation.
