Gold Threads

For those who are involved in restoration and reproduction work we are thrilled to offer a range of fine gold threads (arg.900 gold grs.). This is exactly the type of gold thread one finds on all those gorgeous historic garments. It remains brilliant over 25 years, and is manufactured in Spain by Hijos de Emilio Gomez SL, one of the leading and oldest Spanish manufacturers of gold and silver threads for hand embroidery, since 1835. Because of the cost of these items they are available only as prepaid special order, with a delivery time of 12 weeks, 500gm. minimum order. Why not consider a group order for your museum, guild, or group of friends?

A drawn gold wire coil very favoured by the Elizabethans. Usually cut into small lengths and couched, the less wealthy often used gold coloured bugle beads to imitate this lustrous gold embroidery. The embroidery stitch known as bullion stitch is yet another attempt to emulate this gorgeous metal thread.
